Registration for Classes

Happy New Year! 

The year 2024 rings in a significant milestone in your life as you begin preparing to transition to Pope High School. Our goal is to ease your transition and provide all the pertinent information you would need to continue your course of study in Music. The Pope High School Orchestra is a thriving program servicing 4 Orchestras of varying levels, AP Music Theory, and Chamber Ensembles. We are excited to welcome you into our family and hope the information provided will assist you as you begin preparing for your registration process. 

Recent Pope Orchestra Highlights

• 2018-2019 – Selected to perform at Georgia Music Educators In-Service in Athens
• 2017-2018 – Competed and received all superior ratings in the ASTA National Conference
• Yearly Superior ratings at LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) 
• Past Orchestra trips: New Orleans, New York, Orlando, San Francisco

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

In February, you will select your ‘Elective Registration’ for Pope High School. An official from Pope High School will come to your respective middle school to complete this ONLINE REGISTRATION process on the following dates:

· February 19 - March 1, 2024

How do I register for Orchestra?

Step 1

Prior to Registration, what should I do?

Pick your TOP 5 Electives:

1. ORCHESTRA (orchestra must be your #1 elective course to ensure your placement into this course)

*After your Spring audition, you will be placed into an ability-based orchestra or you will sign-up for the freshman orchestra. 

The Day of Registration 

You will go into a computer lab to select your TOP 5 Electives on the dates listed above. There will be 5 drop down selections in which you will rank your elective registration. You should register for orchestra by selecting ORCHESTRA as your #1 Elective Choice in the Drop-Down Menu. This will ensure that we can properly place you into an ability-based ensemble. Elective’s are filled by class rank (Juniors – Sophomores – Freshman – 8th Grade), thus if classes are full, they will go further down your elective list until there is an open seat. There are no seat limits in Orchestra.

*PE/Health Many students elect to take this course over the summer session. These courses can be split between summers of school years.

World Language 2+ years needed for post-secondary education.

Graduation Requirements 3 classes in: Fine Arts/CTAE/ and or World Language
